VARSITY FOOTBALL COACHES
JIMMY WALLACE - HEAD COACH (170-52)
Coach Wallace is beginning his 13th year as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Northwestern High School. His coaching career includes being an assistant football coach one year at York Middle School, three years at York High School, five years at Rock Hill High School before becoming Head Coach at Lewisville High School. While at Lewisville, Coach Wallace lead the lions to win the 1984 Region Championship and in 1986, the Class A State Championship. Coach Wallace came to Northwestern in 1987 where his teams have captured four Region II-AAAA Championships and two State AAAA Championships ('89 & "93). Coach Wallace has also served as an assistant with the Shrine Bowl in 1996, assistant coach at the North-South All-Star Game in 1984, and Head Coach of the North in 1998. In 1997, Coach Wallace was a finalist for the National Football League Coach of the Year.
ASSISTANT COACHES
MITCH WALTERS - OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR
Coach Walters is in his 14th year of coaching at Northwestern High School and his fourth year as Offensive Coordinator. Coach Walters is a graduate of Northwestern High School were he played football and baseball. Coach Walters graduated Winthrop University where he played baseball for four years. He is also coaches the quarterbacks as well as offensive coordinator.
BOBBY CARROLL - DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR
Coach Carroll is in his 18th season coaching Northwestern Football. A graduate and player from York High School, Coach Carroll is in charge of the defense. He played college football at Presbyterian College. He is also in charge of the linebacker coaching duties.
TOM TURNER - OFFENSIVE LINE COACH
Coach Turner is in his 21st year of coaching football at Northwestern. He also coached one year at Marion High School under former Northwestern Coach Bobby Ivy. Coach Turner is a graduate from Tennessee Tech where he played baseball. He coaches offensive line and also handles the strength and conditioning program at Northwestern.
CALVIN HUDGENS - WIDE RECEIVER COACH
Coach Hudgens is in his 3rd year at Northwestern. He had previously coach at Clover High School for nine years, Garinger High School in Charlotte for one year, Great Falls High School for three years, and Rock Hill High School for one year. He graduated and played football at Catawba College. He currently coaches the wide receivers.
DAVID PRINCE - DEFENSIVE LINE COACH
Coach Prince is in his 6th year at Northwestern High School. He coached two years at Laurens High School under former Northwestern coach Bobby Ivy. Coach Prince is a graduate of Northwestern High School and of Winthrop University. He is in charge of the defensive line.
DAVID PIERCE - DEFENSIVE ENDS COACH
Coach Pierce is in his 13th year at Northwestern after serving two years at Lewisville High School. Coach Pierce is a graduate from Winthrop University after playing football at Presbyterian College for two years. Coach Pierce played high school football at Rock Hill High School. He is in charge of coaching the defensive ends at Northwestern.
CHRIS WILLIAMS - RUNNING BACKS COACH
Coach Williams is in his 2nd year at Northwestern High School. He previously coached at Boiling Springs High School for three years, Lower Richland High School for two years, and Chester High School for one year. He is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University. He currently coaches running backs.
HOWARD BAYER - DEFENSIVE BACK COACH
Coach Bayer is in his 4th year of coaching at Northwestern High School. He previously coached college football at Charleston Southern University. Coach Bayer played football for Carson Newman where he achieved his degree. Coach Bayer is in charge of the defensive backs.
BENJI YOUNG - DEFENSIVE BACK COACH
Coach Young is in his 3rd year at Northwestern. He is a graduate of Northwestern where he played in 1990 - 92. From Northwestern, Coach Young played for the University of South Carolina for four years and graduated in 1997. Coach Young currently coaches the defensive backs.
